What do I know about books?
Someone once made the terrible mistake of teaching me to read, and since then, I've been unstoppable. I especially love stories with unusual magic systems, morally grey characters, and endings that make me cry in a good way.
When I'm not reading, I'm writing.
As a traditionally published children's fantasy author, I get to collaborate with creative teams, build joyful communities, and make stories come alive.
With all that reading, do I ever leave the house?
On occasion, I've been known to step into Real Person clothes and venture out of my hobbit hole.
On the Outside, I’ve connected to readers, writers, and educators, given keynotes, and taken part in panel events, podcast interviews, and school visits.

Seattle has an incredibly close-knit writing community and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. I can often be found amongst the flock of creatives, laptop out at a winery or hitting wordcount goals on retreat in the Cascades.

Over the many years I've known Arnée Flores, I have worked with her on several events, coordinating with bookstores and libraries, selecting venues and creating promo graphics. She is always professional, responsive, and an absolute delight to be around. The way she navigates the world of publishing and promotion makes it all look easy, and bonus: she has a sense of style that makes me look like a cave troll.
That's not an exaggeration. After one of the panels an attendee noted that it was like watching the winning contestant from Miss Congeniality do a panel with Hunter S Thompson. I took great offense but...valid.
